we recently discovered an spf error on some of our emails. we have spf records (txt file type)... but they are a little out of date. we used microsoft's website to generate new ones, but are they valid? (I made up the ip's and domain name)

Microsoft's reccomendation:
v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:207.250.223.50 mx:etp.cleanhound.com -all

ours:
v=spf1 mx ptr ip4:207.250.223.0/32 -all

notes: ours has .0/32 rather than the exact ip like .15 ... is a range (our version) needed for domains that have users from around the country... with external IPs?

ETP: is the name of our mail server... so all of our mail domains reference this server.

Not sure about the rest of it but the first thing that pops up is that your IP/subnet mask combination is invalid.

did you perform a test? if so where... thats because i posted a fake site... theres no harm posting the real info since you can get it with a whois from anywhere i'll post it here:
(if you noted something specifically wrong please point it out thank you for your help!)

v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:207.250.223.50 mx:etp.cleanhound.com -all

ours:
v=spf1 mx ptr ip4:207.250.223.0/32 -all
