i have a mcr320 and 220 and was just curious. is it better to have fans pushing air through the radiators or pulling? or does it matter at all?
 
Whatever's more convenient for the setup.

Everyone who's been around a while in w/c is going to chime in with their thoughts, but I prefer pull myself.

Could split the difference and use both though, assuming you have the room. ;)
 
Push for fast fans of over +1800rpm, -1300rpm pull works better and doesn't matter if it lies in between.
 
ive been wanting to do push/pull on my mcr320, just need to get some 45* fitting and some more fans :D
 
why is it that adding shrouds increase performance?

To decrease the deadspot that the fan's motor represents - theoretical stuff mostly - I do not see any difference ;)

A pity that they stopped producing them fans that had the motor in the outer ring, I heard that it was a marine thruster producer that bought the patent. Those fans were hypereffective (speed vs. output) since the impeller was a full face with no motor in the middle. I had one... maybe I still have it somewhere in my "messy" computerworkshop :)

Push if you have a 1 or 2 inch shroud between the fan and rad. Pull if you need to fit in a tight space.

Push needs the shroud gap to overcome the resistance pressure build up of the fan air flow.
 
with the cost of the shroud and the space utilized you are better off using another set for push/pull.
 
when oyu guys ssay push/pull are you saying have one fan blowing on one side and one pulling on the otherside in the same spot, which would be 4 fans for a 2x120 rad? Or just 2 fans total, on pushing on one spot and the other pulling on the other spot? Sorry if I am just missing the obvious here its early.
 
Push/pull on an MCR220 would have two fans pushing and two fans pulling. 3 and 3 for an MCR320.
