Which is better for me?

Ok, a while ago I bought an Nvidia TI-4400 card for when I was playing EQ, it was a way better card than the mx-440 I was using and I loved the card.

Well about 6 months ago the card starting flaking out on me one day, I started seeing little ansi rectangles all over my screen in anything, could see them when I was on the desktop even, well I tried the reformatting new drivers etc and still had the same problem, then to rule everything out I installed it in my second comp and had the same issue, I called for an RMA and sent it in, much <3 for companies with lifetime warranties.

Well in the meantime I went out and bought an ATI 9600pro as a replacement till my rma was fixed, well I totally forgot about my rma and like 3 months later I was scanning over old emails and saw the rma, I called them and was told they were waiting for replacement parts for my card and that they had come in that very day and my card would be sent by next day air back to me.

Well I got the card back and its an Nvidia 5600 Ultra, not the TI4400 I originally sent back for rma and that they were "waiting on parts to repair" .

So I have two questions.

First off did I get ripped off? is the 5600 Ultra a better card than the TI4400?

And between my ATI 9600 Pro and the Nvidia 5600 Ultra which is the better card?

I want to install the better card in my gaming system.

The system specs for my gaming comp are as follows.

Asus A7V8X-MX SE Mobo
AMD 3000+ CPU
400 Watt PSU
1 Gig pc2700 ram
80 Gig 7200rpm HD
52x24x52x16x Cd-RW
16x DvD
ATI 9600 Pro (currently)

Kepp the 9600 Pro, better card then the FX5600.

As far as the TI vs FX. The FX is better then the TI.

Did you get ripped off? No.

The 5600 Ultra isn't a great card, but it is newer and faster than your older Ti4400. So, certainly you were not ripped off. As far as it vs. the 9600Pro, I am pretty sure the 9600Pro is faster.

For Doom3 & OpenGL engine games, the 5600 Ultra is significantly faster than the 9600PRO.

For DX9 games, the 9600PRO is significantly faster than the 5600 Ultra; DX9 games made in 2004 and later will likely run poorly on the 5600 Ultra in DX9/PS2.x mode (though DX8.1 mode/PS1.x will run better than your ti4400).

The 5600 Ultra is also much faster than your ti4400.

My advice it to sell both the 9600PRO and 5600 Ultra on eBay and buy a 6600GT :)
