dremel 4000, there are 3 different kits depending on what accessory tools you want.
Amazon has it for 90 last time I checked.

I don't recommend the cordless models. Although not having a cord is nice, I find that it's rather inconvenient for longer projects, i.e. longer than 20 minutes.

The Proxxon's are fantastic, the best Dremel makes does not even come close. That being said, if you do not want to spend the money, the Craftsman "dremel" appears to be exactly the same. I have had one for about 10 years and have abused the crap out of it and it is still running fine. All the parts are interchangable with Dremel or any other rotary tool.

Hmm, never heard of the Proxxon.
I've burnt through two Dremel 400s recently. Not sure whats up with that but my old Dremel lasted for YEARS w/o issue. Dremel has a good warrenty but its still a PITA to send it back.
I bought a Dremel 4000 a month or so ago and it seems very nice.
The weakest part of the Dremel seems to be the motor, especially the brushes. After a while you sometimes have to apply pressure to the brush caps to get it to work. Eventually nothing will work. Installing replacement brushes works sometimes but on my last one I couldn't even get the brushes out. I had to break them apart with a small screwdriver to get them out....
