Its eatting at me so i might be getting one. Was thinking about a A64 but thats pointless as the video card will give me more performance bang per buck right now not to mention that the A64s keep changing alot lately so no point. So i got the following from newegg and other recommanded places for prices, etc. is cool too (i remember compuplus being a good place for cheaper ones?).

Evga $397
Albatron $399
XFX $416
Gainward $437
Another XFX $410
Chaintech $425
Leadktek $450
BFG $469

I'm looking for the one that is the best combo of price, stock cooling, best for OCin. Opinions? XFX maybe? Whats the difference between the two models?

Thanks!

For those prices, I'd just get the eVga. However, I got my BFG 6800 GT OC for $399 at Fry's. AFAIK there isn't really a big difference between cooling ability on the 6800 GT's.

Well some cooling setups i assume are slightly better so i figured why not ask. Plus didn't the BFG have as5 already on it?

Heres my opinion.

#1 Check you local Best Buy/Frys to see if there are GTs on sale (theres a bunch by me), because of its great warrenty and pre-OC.

#2 Buy the cheapest one online from the most reputable place.

There all the same except the BFG, which also comes pre overclocked.

No, it has a proprietary 2-fan setup, and doesn't use AS5. I've heard of some 6800 GT's out there that use NV silencer 5's for cooling stock, and those are pretty great, but I'm not sure who sells them or if they are really available at the moment.

PNY uses the best ram. If you're going to OC to U speed and you have WC then go for PNY, otherwise eVGA and BFG are good choices

No frys in my state! =/ So locally some BB's have the 6800 gts? Hmmmm.... Do they take discover? =o

I personally have the BFG and love it. It is OC'd out of the box so, and OC's really well as do most others. I have mine running at the Ultra speeds and could go higher but wont till i get a new cooler on it.

I'm gonna hit up BB today and go from there... I don't recall if they take discover though! =/

For what its worth I got the XFX Dual DVI GT, for one, because it uses the reference fan and is dual dvi (hard to find) and for two, because it has a two year warranty, versus one year for the Gainward, which has dual dvi, but a monster dual fan.

My OC is 421/1140 - although I'm just running at stock ultra speeds because that seems like a good round number :)

I purchased an eVGA and so far I've been quite happy with the model. I don't do any overclocking, though, but the card did come with a free copy of Farcry, which is definitely a great title to test the card's power on. :)

Not sure it's in this list, but what's the brand that ships with an Artic Cooling NV5 already on?

THAT would be my recommondation.

I would go with the XFX or the Leadtek. Their two of the best overclocking 6800 GT's and the XFX is shipping with DOOM 3. A Gainward Golden Sample would be another good option.

Get one that comes bundled with D3 if you dont already have a copy.
