Hi everybody ,

ther has been this question that has been bugging me lately and that is when is the conroe for the desktop be available to the genearl public?

I mean what date can i walk into Scan and buy one if i wanted to as a retail version?
 
Apparently, July 23rd or 24th. Who knows how much of the actual product will hit retail shelves. I'm sure a huge chunk of the available inventory will be going to the big vendors like HP, Dell, etc.
 
there is this bit i heard of OEMs and that will be earlier than the retail , is that true?

Also when will the price war begin?

OEMs probably already have their hands on them, but my guess is that you won't start seeing systems close to or on July 24th.

As far as the price war, will begin around the same time. AMD announced price cuts on July 24th. Maybe then some of us can afford dual core!

I don't think anyone on this board can tell you exactly how it will play out late July...paper launch or actual availability.

 
You should find retail availability of OEM systems on the shelves on July 28th.

go buy an intel 805 for $130. dual core has been affordable for about 5 months now., jus not AMD"s :D
 
that seems such a long time away , i wish all this was tomorrow.

My PC needs a CPU and the price of that CPU is still a bit too much if you know what i mean.

The conroe is going to change a lot of peoples lives , it will change the people who buy them and the people who buy something else and because of conroe that chip will be cheaper .

Conroe is going to mould the future.

Intel isnt bad after all , its amd that i have a problem with at the mo.

It sounds like Conroe will be the cure for cancer, aids, and will eliminate world hunger. You're weird.

nooh, I have this ache in my back, it's chronic, and it won't go away. Will conroe take care of this?
 
I'm sure the OEM's have been getting Conroe processors for a while now as well as they have to build the systems to have them ready for order. I pre-ordered mine from BLT a few days ago and they talked like they had already got theirs but like everyone else they can't ship the processors until the date set by Intel.
