When does ATi's price drop take effect?

All I can find is that it is supposed to happen "soon" after the 7900 series launch. I know CompUSA has already dropped the XTX to $550, but I dont want to pay tax. Same for newegg, they have a XTX for $500, but I pay tax there, so I dont want to buy from them. My other normal shops dont have a price that matches them, ZZF, MonarchPC, etc.

Ill be ready to order at least one X1900 (sold my GTX's) in a few days, but I would wait a few more if I knew when the official price drop is going to happen. Anyone has any insight?

don't get the XTX, get the XT as it will run just as fast, if not faster. Price drops should be hitting anyday now.

Ive thought about it, depending on the price. I may be hitting you up for a flash guide on how to do a XT > XTX flash. Havent done once since a X800 Pro to XT/PE for my brother.

No need for a flash guide, just use the ATI Catalyst Control Center to OC the board.

the XTX's do overclock higher in general, otherwise no difference. The ram coming on the XTX's do seem ALOT better though. With XT's most of the time you can forget 850+ on memory where as with XTX is alot more doable.

I was talking about the X1900's. I just sold both of my 7800 GTX's, and am getting one X1900, and possibly two. I would need to sell this A8N32 though, and get the A8R32. Or keep the A8N32 and get just one X1900, and spend the money elsewhere, such as watercooling...

I want a single x1900XT or XTX and I would love to get the Sapphire XT for $450 now, but am willing to wait until later this month or until next to see if there are any more drops. If the XTX were to drop down to the current XT range, I'd go for one.

I have water cooling on my XL (an Innovatek x1800 full card cooler and an Alphacool NexXxos XP on the CPU). It or an aftermarket cooling solution is a must - the stock HSF has an annoying whine and I can imagine it will get worse with the x19 cooler :( , considering the x18XL cooler is atrocious!

how far will the x1900xt drop?

Hmm, if by chance it fell out of my window then it's about 13 feet to terra firma. I'm sure the fall would dislodge the cooler at the very least :D

I doubt X1900's are going to drop by any significant amount, if at all. The XTX is cheaper than 7900GTX cards (at least in the UK anyway) and is slightly better (I realise this is open to debate). ATi have already lowered X1800 prices to be competitive with 7900GT, as these cards are competing against each other in the high-end segment (GTX and X1900 cards are 'enthusiast' class). Most every review site will advise you to buy a X1900XT instead of an XTX or GTX, so why would ATi bother reducing prices when it is clearly such an attractive prospect for the discerning gamer?

Well, I just bought a XT from the forums. OEM, $420 shipped, guess thats as good as it gets for now. My GTX's are sold and paid for, and I had to have another card. Plan to get a Crossfire XT within a few weeks. Going to wait for the price to drop, I can wait a bit. In the mean time, I ordered a AR832-MVP to replace my A8N32-SLI...

Check out newegg now: Powercolor X1900XT for $439! The OEM Sapphire is $449 and the retail Sapphire is $475.

For us Aussies its just started to happen. Minimum price on an X1900XT has dropped (1 store so far) from $799 AU to $689 AU (approx $500 US). Not bad for us down under, and saved me a pretty penny too.

Yeah man, if them X1900XT's hit 399..I WANT ONE!

That's within a few percent of being THE MOST POWERFUL CARD ON THE PLANET for a near mainstream price (sorta kinda)
