im getting graduation money and i was wanting to upgrade my cpu/mobo/ram....i was thinking an amd barton 3200+ because the 64bit amd's are a bit out of my price range. what kind of mobo should i get? i plan to overclock it

depends how much you are looking to spend on a mainboard, cause there are nice boards out there for a Xp3200, but depends how much u wanna spend.

gget DDR400 ram aswell :p

You might as well get a mobile athlon xp. You could probably overlock that farther than you could push a 3200+. I have my 2500+-m running at about 2.65 GHz on water right now. That will also save you some money, so maybe you could more ram or something. :)

i don't want to get a mobo with raid on it...so im looking to spend around $80-$90...and i thought those mobile amd's were for laptops...

Mobiles were made for laptops, but they work in regular motherboards. Overclock very very well too. For example, a mobile 2500+ is designed to run at the same speed as a regular 2500+, except .3V lower on the Vcore. That practically garauntees you a good overclock when you put it back to where its supposed to be at 1.65V or higher. I have my mobile 2500+ clocked at 2.65GHz at the moment on water. Most people seem to have hit around 2.4 at least with air. You should research it a bit more. They are definitely the way to go if you are gonna go the Athlon XP route.

Get the ABIT nf7-s for 85 bucks from newegg! And the mobile XP 2500 for another 85 bucks!

Get a good zalmon copper or thermaright HSF and you will be pushing far past the limits of a 3200+ on same HSF.

Good Luck

LOL, my bad, didn't read well enough, well then you might get lucky and get a amd mobile chip to 2600mh on 1.75 volts!!! Its been done.
