soon hear i am going to get the AKG K601s when my money replenishes after i replace my TV and i would like to know if the Fubar II and Cute Beyond would work well together with these cans.

it will be running through my HTPC which has a Bluegears card but i want my theater and music separate.

i am open to DAC and AMP suggestions within that price range ($300)
 
what would you recommend in that price range for cans? and from your experience why not the 601's

i already have e4c's that i use at work but my ipod was stolen recently and they are not getting used.
 
If you like the Shures you may not have any problem at all with the anemic bass and lack of fine detail from the K601s.
If you like the imaging of the Shures you may not like the expansive sound stage the K601s feature.

I cannot give you an objective opinion regarding the Cute Beyond but aside from the price I do rather like the Fubar II. ;)
 
thank you... the comparison helps a lot. the shure's feel very in my face and it works well for me in short bursts but i would like to hear something wider. will this be a trade off in my budget or is there something that pulls off good detail with the wide stage. i am willing to spend $500 for and amp, dac and cans.

i was interested in the 601's because they met my budget, $200 for the cans and $300 for the cute and fubar.
