What would be a better setup?
P4 3.2C overclocked @ 3.8 or 4.0 whichever I can manage. With a P4C800-E or IC7-Max3 mobo (still trying to decide between the two)... Or,
Dual P4 2.4C's not overclocked. Could I even use C's on a dual board though? Cause I haven't been able to find a dual board that supports over 533 bus, or does that even matter?
Each system would have a gig of Mushkin Level II RAM. Probably PC3500 I'm thinkin.
Mainly I use my computer for a lot of multimedia and downloading and stuff. I tend to always have a media player running in the background while doing other tasks such as photoshop, cakewalk audio editing, the occasional premeire video editing, dvd and cd ripping, as well as burning, and just about whatever else I can do or feel like doing. I like to run multiple desktops and have a lot of windows open. I also do a lot of file archiving compressing and extracting with WinRaR. Of course gaming too, but obviously I don't multitask with that. So I'm wondering what you guys think would be a better setup to suite my needs? Would I clearly notice any kind of performance difference or speed difference between either setup? What would the positives and negatives of each setup be? I'm worried about the 533 bus on the server board setup, but then I wonder if that matters because wouldn't that just be doubled anyway because of the two processors?
Also, do I have to use Xeon processors for a dual system? Or can I just use regular intel processors? Sorry, still a bit new to some of this stuff.
All input, ideas, and help greatly welcomed. Thanks!
