Im in need of a upgrade. I have been looking and reading reviews on various products such as the AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 64 and the Pentium 4 3.0c. Which is the right way to go. I am a hardcore gamer so my pc will be used primarly with that and programming. I would prefer the one that will be most worth my money AND future proof, for a while at least. Anyone who has some insite on this, that would be great.

AMD Fans will say go with the Athlon 64, and Intel fans will say the oppisite.

I'm an AMD fan, so I say go with an AMD 2500 - 3000, cool it, and overclock it so you can be at the top of the 3dmark list along with the other AMD guys :D

thanx for your thoughts, but i think that toms is about reliable source of information as someone here posting that hl2 is comming out tommorow
