I have a Samsung 14" LCD sitting on my desk.

came from a laptop.

I know the LCD FAQ says forget about it....so....any interesting ideas?

the lcd faq usually knows it stuff.

You could build a catipult and see how far you can launch it though (I take no responsibility if you get hurt doing this, its only an idea, please use common sense)

......or, throw it out the window, the window, the window, he threw it out the window, jack fell down and broke his crown, so he threw it out the window, the window, the window

(it's very late)

I have a 14.1" Samsung LCD that came from a laptop that is undergoing a conversion to a full fledged XGA monitor. Basically, expect to pay $150-200 on a controller, more if you don't have an inverter for the backlight and cable, and if you can handle that, I think you'll find my project interesting. Everything will be revealed in just a few days.

thats crazy money for a 14inch laptop screen but I bet its a fun project. You will have to tell the vga faq guys all about it too.

It's not cheap but I have yet to see an XGA capable 14" LCD monitor for this price. My project is nearly complete and I've spent just over $175 on it. I think you'll find it to be a decent alternative to the commercially produced LCDs. Anyways, I will spare you the hype, I get carried away sometimes ;)

hell, I'd love to see that.

if I could do that, oh man i'd have fun.

what's the PN on your Samsung?

Mine is LT141X7-124. It looks like you have the inverter and cable assembly, so all you would need is power supply and controller card. I would suggest doing a Google search for the LCD module you have, making note of other flat panels that are drop-in replacements of your LCD. Keep a list, and then check to see if the panel is compatible with one of Digital View's controller cards. Digital View has a page that lets you check for compatible controller cards for a given LCD module:

http://www.digitalview.com/de_csg.php

Your LCD isn't listed, but perhaps one of it's drop-in replacements is.
