Alright Im not sure if it goes here.

But on my Screen, When i try to play a game at 1024x768, it loosk helly crappy, even with AA AND AF on, its really choppy.

This is my setup (currently)
1700+ DL3TC JIUHB @ 2.2 ghz
Thermaltake Volcano 12
MSI k7n2 Delta L
1gb Kingston HyperX PC4000 (2x512)
PNY 6800 GT
WD 800BB 7.2k rpm 8mb cache
TTGI (superflower) 450watt PSU quad fan
Lian LI PC7

My monitor is an Amptron 17" LCD. Its native res is 1280x1024. I think thats why. But is there any way to work around this? I love the size of the LCD, but i cant play games at 1024x768 like i want to, Or else it looks like crap.

LMK! any and all responses/feedback would be gladly appreciated.

you need to explain crappy first. Does the 2d (desktop) look OK and games look bad?

Run it at its native resolution. That's the only way some LCD's are happy. My friend's 17 inch LCD looked terrible at any resolution but the native resolution, so he just started running everything at that resolution and all his trouble dissappeared!

yea, but then the HUD is so small.. everything is small..

Not to mention the Text is bold ( this is in counter-strike )

I guess it could be bad if you have trouble reading at that resolution. Are you sitting back a ways from the screen? From what I have seen 17 inch LCD's have much more viewable area than 17 inch CRT's, but if you are still having trouble reading at that resolution, you may want to invest in a cheap CRT so you can run at a resolution you can read at without getting the crappy picture.

The only other option you may have is to find another 5:4 ratio resolution to try and run at, but I don't know of any in the range you would need.

Google "CS 1.6 Font Change Guide" or something of the like. You can set the Engine font in HL mods to whatever you want.

One thing to be careful of on that which I neglected to mention is you can't just alter the "TrackerScheme.res" file for the default skin. If you're like me and can't stand the grey skin, just copy all the skin-related folders from the C:\Steam\ folder into a new skin and change the TrackerScheme on that one, then set that new skin in the Steam options.
