There is plenty of powerfull Intel CPUs that will match and exceed the 3800+ in power, but not at ~$100 level. Not until Jan'07 anyways, when Conroe E4300 will debut at ~$130.
Right now the best price/performance chip from Intel is Conroe E6300 at ~$180, and it RAPES every sub-$500 CPU from AMD.
If you're on a budget and dont wanna spend extra $$$ for a new Conroe compatible mobo, DDR2, or even AGP card, Fry's got some great deals on Conroe 6300+ECS mobo that will run DDR1 and AGP compnents just fine. THe combo usually sells for about ~$180, so it's like paying for CPU and getting the mobo for free. Not a bad combo at all... Won't overclock much, but its very stable at stock and plenty fast for the money.
