hey, just baught this vid card and apparently i wasnt paying attention because when it arrived today it was a pci express card. is there any advantage to this or is a normal 8x agp card better??? also does it work in a normal pci slot or is an express slot new?? (hope that wasnt a stupid questions). this is the mobo i am running, soltek SL-75FRN2-L w/ nforce2 ultra chipset . My current card is a radeon 8500 too.

umm don't try to install it or you'll break it.. return it right away because ur motherboard does not support pci-express...... return it to whoever u got it from and get an agp version... .. unless u want to upgrade ur cpu/motherboard to an athlon64 nforce4 or intel 775 socket i suggest u return it ASAP and get an agp version..
 
Only mildly stupid dude :p dont worry about it.

PCI-E is a new standard for graphics cards that is supposed to eventually replace AGP. The new generation of cards are the first generation to come in both AGP and PCI-E forms, and at somepoint we will probabley only see PCI-E since AGP is becoming to slow for future generation high-end graphics.

In short? unless your running an LGA 775 Intel CPU, you're not going to have PCI-E and you have to return your card. Given that your definatley NOT running one of those, i, hoping your able to return it :(

pci xpress is simply a sub contact system for lower latency between the motherboard and the interconnect of the cpu to graphics system. The simple fact is that its not really needed at the moment nor in the next 4 years considering that even the most advanced graphics cards cant even fill the full pipe line of 4x agp. 8x agp is a joke... however...consider that the pci xpress can lower the latency of the interconnect and allow the allocation of of a sli sub system of 2 cards which is exciteing........ let the future come...and be happy cuz in 2 more years we might see the benefeit of it.
