What is memory clock

Memory clock speed, combined with memory bus width, controls how much memory bandwidth the card has. So yes, generally speaking, higher is better. But it isn't just as simple as that.
 
There are three clock speeds on a video card that are important: core clock speed, memory clock speed, and shader clock speed. It usually works out that the more you increase one clock speed, the less you can increase the other clock speeds. Which clock speed is most important varies from game to game, but core clock speed usually gets you the most benefit, because in many games, memory bandwidth is not the bottleneck.
