What HD / External enclosure?

I'm at college and can't download, so i use my sisters computer in town. She has a 37GB HD on her laptop. I wan't to get a cheap 80-100 gig drive with an enclosure that i can take back and forth via usb. I'm in a dorm room and have no equip. or tools...what I'm asking is if i bought a oem drive and a case, is it plug and play? also, what kind of case is good? i was looking through newegg but didn't know which one to get.
 
most "diy" USB/ FW cases will require at least a phillips head screwdriver.
 
Be careful which external enclosure you get, they're not all built equally. The NexTec one I bought gave me errors on the drive...I checked the drive, no errors. Suffice to say, the enclosure will be returned to frys.
 
I got a generic ATA/USB enclosure for ~$30CDN from a local supplier. Works fine with my 120GB Barracuda.

I have a Vizo Luxon and I love it, the one I have uses both USB and ESATA so it's versitle and fast..

I also have the Vizo Shuttle 2.5" disk enclosure as well, great little product as well... a smaller alternative to the 3.5" enclosures out there...
