Ok the problem all started when i came home the other day. My monitor was turned off and i turned it back on so i could play a nice game of UT2k4. Well i wan't too alarmed to find that nothing happened when i tried to wake my comp up. I figured that it had froze up or something.....
Well to my surprise when i rebooted it, the comp posted but when windows (xp) went to boot nothing happened the screen just went blank. So I dutifully went to BIOS defaulted the overclocks and started windows in safe mode at which point i diabled Riva Tuner from starting at startup and lowered the res and hertz. Upon booting again I could not get into safe mode i ended up getting and error....
Windows/system32/config/system was missing... well this had happened before.... second hard drive conflict ... don't know why anyways when i went to solve this prob in BIOS the screen just went nuts ... nothing worked ... finally i removed the vid card and the waterblock and put in a PCI vid and chalked it up to my vid....
Well things got worse as my comp on the next boot was fine but would now not detect IDE devices..... It freezes and won't do sqwat. I have checked my cd-roms, HDD and all work, I pulled the CMOS jumpper multiple times trying different things and have even replaced the CMOS battery to no avail. After checking for viruses on my HDD i found none and am now at a total loss..
My only conclution is that my mobo is fried.... possibly the north bridge because of my high fsb... i know my northbridge was getting hot and it was getting hotter in the house but i did not experience any condinsation and im thinking that the higher internal case temps could have over heated it since i regretfully only have a passive heat sink on it .....
