What do you think?

P4 EE, Prescott core = HOT!!

I'm voting against the $1000,00 CPU

If I'm not mistaken (I may be) I read in Maximum pc that Intel considers Prescott a failure and has caused Intel to re-think the way they are going about increasing cpu speed. Prescott's Thermal performance was much worse than expected.

So...you have a $3000 budget, eh? How about we start with a DFI nF4 + overclocked San Diego. Either 2x512MB [TwinMOS SP or Crucial Value] at about $100ish or 2x1GB. Eh...Raptor 74GB, big ass data drive, DVD+/-RW. Et cetera.

Take the extra money and blow it on displays...even then you'll probably still have cash to spare. 2005FPW is $500ish depending on when you catch it, 21" Trinitron CRTs are $100-200...go for a pair of 6800GT in SLI if you want to. Just one is usually plenty.

$3000 is a whole fricking lot of computer if you spend it right.
