What do scores in benchmarking programs consider?

Well I was wondering if progrmas like 3dmarks 01se and 03 and also Aquamarks consider only the videocard of your system? Or does it also have to do with your CPU and other factors. Also would I get a higher score not running any programs in the background or does that not matter?

- 3DMark2001SE is your entire system. CPU, Memory, Video.

- 3DMark03 is mostly your video card, but the CPU does play a role. There is even 2 CPU tests.

- Aquamark3 is your entire system.

If your seriously benching you should never have anything running in the backround.

Ty for info...Should I disable antivirus also? What are your methods out there that you guys use before benchmarking?
