what could be wrong... (fixing old comp)

Ok, i have this...old K6-2 computer. It used to run great, but now it's ran into a problem.

All i can tell you guys is, the comp boots up and does a Memory Check. You can see the # of kilobytes go up...until it suddenly starts over counting. I've tried skipping this task, but windows never fully loads.

I've tested each ram stick by itself: same thing

I've tested each ram stick in every ram slot.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Could all 3 ram sticks in there be fried?

The same thing used to happen on my old k6-2 with a via motherboard. There was a memory setting in the bios that fixed that problem for me.

its an ASUS mobo....but do you remember specifically what the setting was?

Just mess around with the bios settings, you cant do any permanent damage. If all else fails, try to get a replacement motherboard. Make sure the board is clean, and theres no dust in the memory slots. When talking about components, old almost always means DUSTY.
