M4n98TD EVO mb. 5770 vid card, also tested old ATI 1300. 16 gig of ram.

I put a new installation of Win 7 64bit on this PC, ...........twice. No matter what vid card I use I get purpling, lines etc. in White spaces or when playing even a vid from old games.

Yeah, I swapped monitors for each vid card to test.
The only thing I can think of is that I had retired this MB and was building it for my son. I bought an old B45 AMD processor. Could a bad processor cause lines? Also the coprocessor shows up as unknown in the control panel.

Check out the pins on the PCI-E slot that the video cards are going into. Make sure there's no dust or messed up pinage.

It's almost guaranteed to be the mobo, but try a new cable too. I've seen damaged cables do wonky things.
 
If you tested 2 cards with the same results, it could be a number of things. The first things I would look at would be your video cable. Next would be your monitor and then your motherboard and psu.

It's probably not the PSU. The x1300 doesn't use an ancillary power supply cable.
 
I used two different monitors, two different cables. The only thing common was a DVI to VGA adapter. I am going to try a DVI to DVI cable tonight. NEW STUFF: I booted the voltage on the CPU to 1.45 and it cut the artifacts a tiny bit.
Could the CPU be the problem? I was running this MB with this Vid card and memory before I retired it. I thought it would be just a quick install and done.
 
I've seen this happen with faulty memory. Any lockups?
 
SOLVED! Duh!, sound of hand hitting forehead. My MB had unlocked one of the cores on the B45 and when I remembered that, I just reverted the bios which relocked the core and all is good.
