What are Refurbs :)

I just bought a refurbished 9600XT video card from newegg.com for $129. I haven't gotten it yet though.

I am just wondering... Do you think that half the time, people return something to newegg, or wherever, because they didn't like the preformance of it? I guess what I'm asking is, what is the probability that I will get my 9600XT, and it wasn't even broken, someone just didn't like it?

yeah probably just someone didnt like it, or they didnt have a mobo that could use it or something. if you get a broken one, then you just send it back, but i doubt you'd get a broken one

well, i mean, not broken when I get it, but it was once a bad card and then the manufacturer fixed it.

I imagine Newegg's refurbs are pretty good, no personal experience though. And with a graphics card, someone may have just made up a reason to RMA it just because they didn't like it, didn't overclock well etc. You should be fine with it though, and yeah, if it's broken you'll get it fixed

"Refurbished" is never defined because the seller needs to use the word to cover a lot of things.

Previously broken/defective, returned, shelf model, show model, etc.

I have a refurbished ATi 9800 with 2.6ns Samsung chips. Will be easily flashed into a 9800 Pro soon.

Only cost me $150.
No problems whatsoever and I still have 90 days on the retailer warranty. Of course, the original ATi warranty is inapplicable.
