ok, i've had the 37w1 for over a year now and have enjoyed all that time. now i kinda want to go bigger and was thinking about the 42" version. does anyone here own this and use it as a pc monitor or seen it used as one in person? i'm just trying to see if the same res stretched across 5 more inches causes any noticable degradation or pixelation. if it does then i guess i'll just pick up the 37w3 so i get a little more than what i had. thanks for any feedback.

Firstly both are excellent displays, that being said: I have a 42w2 and a 37w3 in my house, I think the biggest factor is distance if you can't get 3+ feet from eyes to screen the 37 may be the better choice. I've had some oddities show up like my mac mini colors were all messed up on the 37 and the 42 was perfect from initial detection. The 42 has some problems re syncing on windows pc resolution changes on dvi1 but doesn't do anything like that with xbox360 or either of my mac's or on dvi2 or vga. I haven't seen that issue on the 37 but it has some odd differences in the OSD that I miss from the 42. Again distance is the biggest issue, If your desk doesn't let you get away from these things you'll be turning your head and moving your eyes too much.

I've been putting off getting one of these 42" models. I want one very badly.

imo 42" isnt that much of a step up from 37" and having a higher dot pitch isnt that ideal for a PC monitor, id wait to go bigger when 1440p becomes the new 1080p. and get like a 50" 1440p monitor.

I just got my LVM-42w2 today and its AWESOME.

Looks great as a computer monitor, I don't notice any pixelation at all, just got done playing world of warcraft for a few hours and its perfect!

I could rave for days about it!!! Maybe I'll post a pic soon. Oh and btw, 42 is ALOT bigger than 37, yes, noticeably larger, same great quality.

I've owned the 42w2 since August of last year and it's been great. I use it as a PC monitor and to play Xbox360 games. As a previous poster stated if your intention is to sit up close (less then 4 feet) to the monitor then the 42" is NOT for you. The larger dot pitch and the amount of light coming off a 42" LCD will kill your eyes up close. Before you do anything access your computer environment to see if a 42" monitor will work for you.
