I bought this board 7-11-2013 as an open box from NewEgg, and just opened it today to setup for anticipated CPU delivery.

On Newegg Chat...

sc0tty8: Order #182461203 is the order for this board.
Elena: Thank you for holding. As of this moment, we can issue an RMA for refund for you. You can reorder then. Could you please give me a brief description of the issues you’ve experienced with this item?
Elena: Do you have the retail box and all the accessories?
Elena: Please kindly note that if the item was returned and tested as physical damage, your RMA will be denied.
sc0tty8: first, yes I have the box. second, the board arrived damaged
Elena: Thank you. I have issued you RMA for a refund. You will receive a confirmation email within 5-10 minutes containing the address and instructions for your return. Once received, we will process your RMA within 2-5 business. After the RMA is processed, a refund will be issued to your original payment method within 3-5 business days.
Elena: Also, a second email will be sent to you within the next 24 hours with a prepaid UPS shipping label. Please print the label and tape it onto the outside of your returning package. This label does expire in 7 days, so please make sure you send this package as soon as possible or you may have to incur the return shipping cost.
sc0tty8: right, however above you made mention of damage, I would be denied if the board is damaged?
Elena: If the motherboard is physical damaged the RMA will be denied.
sc0tty8: thank you i got that but are you listening? the board arrived damaged please look at the photo above...

Its an Asus board...your fucked 3 way from Friday....

Well, spoke to someone on the phone, they will put a note on the RMA...

They did give me a UPS return label which was nice. I guess, here goes...I snagged pics of the CPU sockets as well, other than this mounting stud, this board is cherry.

Just bought a replacement as they would only give me a refund. Worst case, it comes back and I will JB weld a stud from my 212's in the hold:cool:

i bought the exact same board (open box too) and mine arrived all gravy :)

Then its not exactly the "exact same board", is it?:p

I have another like this, but not broken.

Wow, not a lot of love for asus huh?

awesome products, see my sig, I am a longtime legacy fan

Worst customer service/RMA support in the industry of late...I hate to say it but the evidence is undeniable.

If you want I can search up a double fistfull of threads on this forum alone, it is bad, really bad, we have been trying to shame them but it does not seem to be working.

I guess tbh, all rma process suck. I liked the asus rma process over supermicro...

I have delt with ASUS RMA department several times over the years and have had no problems, the last time was about 6 months ago. In fact there rma process has been easier and have beter results than MSI or OCZ for me. So I am assuming from reading others thoughts that it is pretty much hit and miss from any companys RMA service.

50/50 I'm screwed....

BTW Have I ever mentioned I hate Newegg...

There's your problem right there. Never buy something that isn't new from Newegg and not expect it to be fucked and you being out money.

A little OT but is this one of the reasons why [H] stopped advertising with them? Kind of a silent topic now and apparently I missed it. A lot of people seem to be at odds with Newegg these days. The poster child seems to be losing its fame.

I buy nothing but ASUS boards and have had great experiences with them, of course always a new part nothing used or the sort. Based off other peoples experiences though it seems like I should switch next build. I'll be an optimist today and say the gods are in your favor on this one.

Nope. Had to do with [H] not getting advertising money from them or some kind of incentive for people clicking on links that go to them. Whatever the drama, I still love newegg. Not always the best prices but usually pretty competitive still and WAY better organized for finding parts than amazon... that site is a MESS if you don't know what you're looking for.

Buying refurb / open box / returned items from newegg is a 99.99% crapshoot. I wouldn't buy an item like that without expecting it being messed up in some way, I can't trust how random people handle items, let alone wanting money back when it is messed up.

First one I bought arrived in a white box, sealed anti-static and every single accessory, disk, and manual.

This one arrived missing the IO shield, a sticker, and a cdrom, as well as the mount :(

A fellow teammate has some replacement retention mechanisms so I think I'll go that route.

They have consistently been scaling back their levels of service for the past 5+ years. They used to have an ironclad warranty service, fast shipping and great prices. Well, they got rid of the warranty (probably getting burned by too many dishonest people), ditched the cheap/fast shipping, and now their prices have ceased to be consistently the lowest. I'd be willing to pay the extra if they hadn't given up the rest of what made them the leaders in the PC component e-tail market, but why should I deal with them now over Amazon or anywhere else? They've gotten rid of all the things that made me a loyal consumer.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification, I was wondering for awhile but everyone seemed to get quickly shut down back when it happened so I figured I'd wait awhile til the dust settled to inquire. Looks like it was the dirty money problem. Shame really.

Unfortunate. See I only order from them once in a blue moon and never had any problems. Not really a "regular" so to speak. I do remember a lot of assholes completely abused the system way back when returning video cards or CPU's that they intentionally broke or just to get a different model in hopes it would overclock better. I think it's a 50/50 situation where one side abused things and the other side is now overreacting. Damn shame.
