ok...heres the problem.

i get my new athlon XP mobile 2500+ yesterday. i put it in, put some AS5 on there and put my swiftech mcw5000 waterblock on....of course ive had a week to leaktest it so i know its not leaking. before i got the mobile i cracked the core on my 2600+. everytime i start it up. it comes up as 600mhz and not 1.8 like it should be. i can raise my FSB to the default of 133 to make it 800mhz....but ANYTHING higher than 800 makes the computer ramndomly shutdown...EVEN in the bios. and if i raise the vcore with or without changing the FSB it still randomly shutsdown. i cant even change the multiplier so that it will run at 133x(anything higher than 6. 6 is the default)

motherboard reports temps as 45-50c
aerogate 2 with temp probe next to core reports 27-30c <more accurate

i have:
MSI K7N2 Delta-L moherboard
AMD Athlon XP-Mobile 2500+ AQYHA stepping
512MB of geil pc3200 RAM (at the moment...1 gig regularly)
9600pro
300watt generic POS PSU

another weird thing is. sometimes the CPU will come up as unkown and sometimes it will be shown as a mobile athlon

any idea what it could be?

update your BIOS and get a new PSU.

The 2600 is the chip with the cracked core right? You made it confusing with this info added that is not needed.

If your OCin you should raise ur vcore and vdimm

well....my bios went to shit when ir did the random shutdown thing jus tas i was saving it....

so im sending that board back in favor of an nf7 hopefully
