I just built my new Q6600 rig. Quick Hardware list

Q6600 + thermalright ultra extreme
GA P35-DQ6
4GB PC6400 Patriot
Hitachi 1TB drive
Maxtor Atlas II on an Adaptec 29160 controller
EVGA 8800 GTS 320

Silverstone 650 w power supply
Gigabyte 3d Aurora case

Installation was smooth and all was good. I loaded winxp onto my Maxtor and installed SP2 and then all required drivers.

I was playing with my new system when this message pops-up. ''A jack has been pluged in" ..............I actually didn't plu anything...........Anyways shortly after this the system went to the blue screen of death (windows shut down to prevent damage to bla bla bla))with an error saying something like this: Kernel-data error

Restarted and couldn't go into windows because my SCSI drive is gone!! Checked the connections but nothing!

I took the SCSI controller and installed it in another pc and it seems to be working!

Another question: When I power up my machine, sometimes it does give the successfull beep boot and the monitor turns on but nothing apears on it. Open case then close, then it is fine. Why? Grounding issues? Could bad wire management be this bad?

Any help is greatly appreciated.............and sorry I had to type this in a rush

I plugged it onto my other system, and it doesn't spin??????? What gives

Is this bad news for me? How and how could a new SCSI (Reliable supposingly)drive becomes faulty after 3 hours use?

First, test to see if the drive will spin up by itself with only the power connector plugged in. Ensure the power connector is working by testing it on another drive.
The controller card may need reseating -- can you plug it back into the first system to see if it still works there?

Controller seems to be fine. Drive doesn't spin when connected to a working molex power connecter
