i recently received a free copy of office 2003 professional since i work for a member for the preferred isv program.

i first installed it from the cd with no problem, using the included CD key. here at the house, i have a dedicated file server that has the install programs for all of my and my wife's apps that way we have them in case a computer requires a re-install. i've installed/re-installed office 2003 many times this way.

so, i created appropriate directories on the server and then copied the office 2003 cds to the server. however, when i attempt to install it to a different computer in the house over the network, it complains that the CD key is invalid even thouh it is the exact same CD key that i used to install it from CD.

to test, i attempted to install from CD on the wife's computer with the CD key it just bitched about and it worked just fine. does office 2003 have some kind of CD copy protection like games do?

if so, is there a workaround for it so that it can be network installable?

thanks!
