Weird CD problem

I just helped a friend build a system with the following specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-7N400-L
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Memory: 1 x Corsair PC-3200 Value Select
Hard Drive: Western Digital 40GB HDD
Graphics Card: GeXcube 9600PRO
Power Supply: Orion 400Watt Power Supply Unit

XP pro was installed and he installed plenty of games but for some reason there are about two games from EA Games (one game is Command and Conquers General and I forgot the other one) whenever he tries to play the games it keeps saying an invalid or incorrect CD has been inserted (yes, he does have the valid copies of the game) and I also believe he has some troubles installing certain games. He has a Samsung 16 x DVD-ROM drive, we tried swapping that with some drives on a different machine, and he continued to have the same problems with the same exact games. In addition, we then reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro another time and it continues to still act up. I then tried tweaking some settings in the BIOS and in Windows but the problems continued on the same exact games. The games install fine on other machines I tried it on. It would be much appreciated if anyone has any ideas on how to resolve these issues. I am a bit puzzled since the problems only occur with certain games. I got a few ideas of other things to try and next time I go over there ill try it, but I would appreciate any ideas any of you might have since I never experienced this sort of problem with only certain games not function properly. Thanks.

Did you install the latest NForce drivers? Sounds familiar to the issue people (including me) were having with a certain version of the drivers that included the SW PCI (or something with SW) drivers.

Hmmm since he has dial-up I just installed the nforce drivers off the CD but I guess ill download the latest ones here and then try it.
