Weird Ati Card

I think they all might be 9000 parts, some of which are low-profile. I've seen low-profile versions of other 9xxx hardware before, but the interesting thing is the lowest end of those cards has 64MB instead of 128. Only on the really low end 9000-9200 have I seen that. The real key spec on that site is ALL of the cards in that line use a 128-bit memory interface, nothing over the 9600 uses a 128-bit bus (hell the 9500 actually used 256 but is discontinued now). So the cards are just multiples of a 9000 GPU, each GPU paired with its own 64MB frame buffer and a pair of RAMDACs for dual monitor support so nothing too custom about that. The asking prices for that hardly seem reasonable. $800 for 4x9000 GPUs with 8 outputs!? Yeah and I have some swamp land to sell you in Florida.

I'm not even sure of how they're doing the multi-GPU thing, but something tells me you wouldn't be able to use it as one collective GPU and get 2 or 4x the performance (even then, 4x a 9000 isn't going to be anything special). Looks more like they are made simply for larger scale multi-monitor applications and might just get detected as 2 or 4 separate display adapters or something. Maybe some fancy PCI bridgework going on here but I doubt it's any sort of SLI or MAXX style implementation. This place seems to sell them for less than MSRP, but I still wouldn't call that a bargain at all when you can get a single output 9000 for <$60. You would be better off getting multiple PCI video cards instead of forking out the dough for these things, unless you absolutely NEEDED to only use one slot or something.

Yeah I love my 9500. Runs like a champ even though i wasnt able to get one of the modable ones :(

Unsure what they are, my guess is some form of the FireGL cards offered by ATi. In any event, they seem to be priced for professional use.
