weird 6800 problem

i recently picked up a BFG 6800 OC. i had no installation problems. installed the 71.20 drivers and downloaded rivatuner 15.3 to see if the extra pipelines and vertex engine can be unlocked. apparently it had no problems running 16x1, 6v as it scored 4029 in 3dmark 2005. i also ran the nalu demo with no graphical glitches.
the problem is i CAN'T get this card to AUTODETECT it's maximum overclock with the rivatuner or the coolbits utility WHEN it's running with at 16x1, 6v. i can't even get it to change any clock speeds lower or higher than the default. but when i run it with the 12 pipelines and 5 vertex shader engines it gave me a very modest 367 core 735 mem.

i'm stumped as to y i can't change clockspeeds with extra pipelines and shader engine enabled. the screen blanks out for half and second and returns with the default clock speeds. when i set clock speeds manually even at 310mhz core and use the test button it fails as well.

i thought it mite be a powersupply problem but i can't even change the clockspeeds to run below spec when i enable the extra piplines and stuff. keep in mind i can unlock everything with no glitches... so wut's the deal?
 
Are you attempting to overclock in the driver section (bottom) in RivaTuner or the low level section (top)? I have no problems overclocking in the driver section on mine even though it's unlocked. The only difference is that I am running the 67.03 beta drivers.
 
367/735 isnt much of an overclock at all..try coolbits 2.0 off of guru3d.com. I hit 400/850 maxed on mine and I have seen some 6800s hit 415/900. I used rivatuner to unlock and then used coolbits to OC.. I did this becuase I already had coolbits on there befor installing rivatuner. Works well.
 
Hey whatsup! I have a BFG6800OC too. I can only hit around 370Mhz core and only 741 on mem. I have coolbits installed also. I was woning why my mem won't go further than that. Shit I got 686 mem OC on my old 9600Pro. Does anyone know any alternative OC software that I could use o get my mem up. Thank you in advance!
 
Power strip, coolbits, riva tuner.... check out guru3d.com.. .they have a good amount of them in thier download section.
