Web broswer problems

OK.. i use Mozilla fire fox, but the same problem occurs while using IE too.

When i try to sign into certain sites.. say yahoo mail.. It just doens't work.. on firefox it tells me connection was refused.. and with IE. i just get a white screen telling me that something is wrong.

Anyone have a clue on what to do?.. this is on my parents computer by the way, it's had this problem since the day it was built.. just never tried to solve it cause there wasn't a need for it to be solved
 
Check your security settings maybe? I've never encountered a problem like this.

^^ did that already... i put the security levels all the way down.. i'm sure people can hack the hell out of this computer.. but there is nothing in this computer to hack anyway.. it's just an internet computer i built, that sits in my old room when i visit my parents. It's not that important to fix it.. but i would love to.. this way i don't have to bring my laptop with me when i visit the parents...
