Hey guys,

I am thinking of going watercooling, it would be my first attempt, I have been reading up on the subject and wondered what you guys thought about the below kit for like my "very first" attempt at watercooling?

Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra Watercooling Kit (Socket 462/478/LGA775/754/939/940) (WC-014-SW)

Alternatively if there is another better kit for around the same cash which is £170 please let me know...

Please note I would prefer to get a kit which contains everything as its my first real attempt at it...

All comments and suggestions would be most appreciated...

Thanks in advance..

P.S. BTW I have a lian li pc7+ if I purchased the above kit would it all fit into the case fine? alternatively if you do make any other suggests please take the size of my case into consideration...

Thank you very much :)

The kit looks fine - its the storm CPU waterblock that is a pain to keep uncloged - for a first time builder beware water has to be perfect - I ended up drilling mine out and I think it runs cooler than ever lol ;)

Build the same kit out of Danger Den parts maybe.

isnt this what was first suggested

http://www.jab-tech.com/product.php?productid=3440

which is like $340???

the petras is $286 so its cheaper and very very silimar setup... same pump similar cpu block just no chipset block... i dont know i like petras kits, i think they are good... you could take time and mix and match parts like i did... and get something better but this is good

also the CORSAIR Nautilus 500 Water Cooling Sytem
mounts the laing dcc pump upside down which is the only way it is not supported... it will not perform at the same level as it would if the pump was right side up...

also the blocks suck and its external ewww!!

Swiftech Storm G4 Rev. 2 or AquaXtreme MP-05 LE
Laing DDC Ultra + Alphacool Pro top
Thermochill or Swiftech MCR rad
Masterkleer (cheap and very good) or Tygon (excellent but very expensive).
Maze 4 GPU
Swiftech MCW30 (if after a chipset block).

Is that everything? inc chipset and gpu block?
how much performance (guessitmately) would i see over the Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra Watercooling Kit

Cpu TDX, STORM, AlPHACOOL
GPU MAZE 4
PUMP LAING DDC, OR D5
TUBE TYGON, MASTERKLEER, DANGER DEN CLEARFLEX/UV
RAD BIXII, THERMOCHILL PA, XSCP

Is that everything? inc chipset and gpu block?
how much performance (guessitmately) would i see over the Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra Watercooling Kit

So out of these two which one is bang for buck and would provide better performance? as you can see specs are in my sig

really appreciate the help and you providing info based on your extensive experience

cheers!!

P.S. or out of the corsair and the custom kits above which is better? bang for buck?

I am thinking about buying this...

will it fit a Asus P5B deluxe and 6600 ?

Right now I am using a Artic Cooling Pro...

Also they say it can handle "upgrades".. I have a 7800GT... and just wondering if I could add on a waterblock for my GPU to the Corsiar? If so.. what should i get for a GPU water block?

I was going to order this through NCIX.com (since I am in Canada).

Even though my current system is full of PolarFlo and Swiftech, I've always had good luck with Danger Den. The Maze 4 Power kit will get your CPU nicely cooled for just over a buck sixty. The components are very good for an entry level kit, and the pump has plenty of head if you want to add a GPU and/or NB block. Not as easy to set up as the Corsair kit, but if you can put a computer together you can sure as hell get this working:

Whatever you decide to go with, remember that electronics don't like to be wet. As a first-timer, PLEASE leak test your WC setup for at least a couple of hours before you mount it to your components.

Oh, and don't worry, everything will fit in a PC7 series case just fine. I have a boatload of tubing in my PC82 with room to spare.

i am also interested in going to watercooling for the first time, I would like to coll my cpu and vga card, and i want to get the Danger Den Maze 4 power kit, do i have to get a GPU waterblock for GPU cooling or is it inlcuded in the kit ???

anyone recommend Danger Den ???
is it easy to set-up ?

You will need to purchase a GPU block in addition to the Maze4 kit. Here's a good place to start looking for one:

My personal choice (as you can tell by my sig) is PolarFlo. The block that I currently have on my 7900GT is this one:

Whatever you get, keep in mind the Maze4 kit has 1/2" fittings. You may also want to consider a second (or upgrade to a dual) radiator since the addition of a GPU block will also introduce a lot more heat into the coolant.

As far as recommending DD, they have a great reputation and I'm sure you could find several people who would recommend them, me included. Even though you need to be careful with liquids around electronics, watercooling kits don't take rocket science to put together. I bet you'll be able to figure it out no problem. If you run into trouble, I'm sure all of the good people on the forums here will be happy to lend you a hand.
