What are the basic steps taken when putting together a water cooling system. Does it require that you remove everything from your case?
 
I would recommend removing your internals and assembling the wc setup and running it for a minimum of 24 hours for leak testing... if everything is okay then install your components and run the setup.... not to hard at all

seeing as you're asking this question you'r ebetter off not trying to botch up a watercooled rig.

Your question obviously dictates you HAVE NOT done ANY research.

if you really want your questions answered and ideas /advice on doing a setup READ and VIEW the previous WC related threads, especially the local watercooled gallery.

thats the best advice for you.
 
This isn't the place to ask silly vague questions about the basics of watercooling. Google is the place to ask. When you have questions about a specific quesion or setup, come back and we will be more than happy to help you out.

This isn't an angry reply, honestly. He's giving you advice from experience. It's find and all to ask questions about this sort of thing... but before "taking the plunge " (man i crack myself up) you really gotta do the research. As far as your question:

The basic steps: Get all your components together
Logically arrange them in your case
Measure/run tubing for all the parts


that's the given... some people measure then assemble/leak test outside their case

some people leaktest/measure/fit inside their case with components inside

Some others do it otherwise... It's all personal prefernce from that point on. Personally, i measure/mount/fit everything in the case with components inside, and i leaktest while the computer is off. I've leaktested outside the case before, but i just thought it was a bit of a hassle..
 
I to would not have called that an angry post.....just trying to direct you to where things might get solved a little bit faster. There are so many guides out there that Google is really the place to "get your feet wet" in this area.

Once you've got an idea of what you need/want come and ask ppl around here and they'll be glad to help you out. We just don't do to well with vague, cursiousity questions like this.....because some work WILL be required of you to get all this straight. If you simply have someone dictate everythign to you then you aren't really learning anything, and you're still at stage one.

It's just turning over to 4am here, I think it might be time for a little shut eye. Good thing it's Easter and I don't have anywhere to be tomorrow.

Dunno, I kinda wanna stay up a bit more and hit 4,400 tonight. :p

yes i know.... It's just I honestly wouldn't care if someone else posted a "vague" question and didn't research on google (By the way I do do research on google most of the time)..

1) research the type of system you want (performance, arrangement, order of loop, etc)

2) research the parts you'll need

3) procure parts

4) remove all internal electronic/electrical components from case

5) setup cooling system in case

6) fill cooling system

7) leak test for 24 hrs

8) If no leak, replace all components and fire it up.

9) Don't yell at people who are trying to help. It really has no place here.

But in a way I'm glad that it isn't.....some good will come of it.....slowly.

mwarps is right in what he's saying. It's important to decide also on WHY you want to water cool. That might sound stupid but some will do it for uber low temps (high quality parts/big rads).....some will do it for quiet operation (water cooling EVERYTHING and using quiet rad fans).....and finally, some people do it for the WOW factor (using all the snaziest parts and illuminating the water).

Once you narrow down exactly WHY you want to water cool you can start doing the research on the parts you're looking at and what's going to be involved.

while we are stil of topic, my computr is dead too :( accidentally unplugged during flash and bios is fubar'd...working on getting another one, but its slow...right now i am on my 600mhz celeron...it should be illegal to make a computer this slow..

Ouch, I feel for ya dude, I had almost the exact same thing happen to myself one time awhile ago. My mishap was due to a power loss.....right at the wrong time. :(

Ah well, it was just my old K7SEM board anyways. ;) :p

This'll make you feel really weird though dude.....just try and think back to when that Celery was the "hot new thing" on the market. Makes ya kinda sick doesn't it? :p :D
 
yeah, i remember when we took the p2 200mhz(somthing like that..) and put in the 600 mhz celeron..wow, it was so fast!!! lol :D owell..i got a friend that's gonna overnight a new bios chip to me on monday...luckily with all the homework i am supposed to be doing, i am not missing my computer to much... i like the gigabyte design that has dual bios built in!...:)

Hmm, never really heard of anyone making a whole lot of use of that thing.....I've always just seen it as sort of a nuisance. I mean, how hard is it to restart change a couple things in the BIOS to overclock your system? Ah well, i GUESS it has some other uses. ;)

The point is that if you screw up your BIOS with a bad flash, or it gets corrupted some other way, then you CAN'T just reset and get on with life.
