Water Cooling: Coolant solution problem

anyone know where i can buy the coolant solution or make it?
I've heard u can use antifreeze and water to make the solution.
But how to i get antifreeze?
 
and if youre going to a car store, you can just pick up water wetter or xerex right there ;)
 
its very hard to beat the thermal transfer ability of water, so with the exception of surficants\corrosion protection like water wetter or additive to forstall biological growth, you wouldnt want to add anti-freeze unless your actually going below 0C
 
what about water + car coolant
I've heard i need distiller water. is that true?
 
cars use water to cool themselves...they add antifreeze so yes it wont freeze in the winter but more importantly to increase the boiling point so it can stand the higher temps of a car engine without boiling and popping the radiator.

just get xerex or waterwetter, add a cap into your system to kill stuff and prevent corrosion, and call it a day. thats ALL you need to do.

and yes distilled is better because it will have much less minerals and crap in it.
 
as kronchev said distilled is far better
with watter wetter, use exactly the ratio mix suggested
which would vary depending on your total capacity
too much and you decrease the heat transfer
