Water Cooling Additives.

I'm new to the water cooling scene, and I had a question about additives that can be put into the loop. Mainly I have a PC I'm building for show right now, and I want to know if its possible to add a fine glitter into the water without it jamming up the pumps or water blocks. I found some really fine UV reactive glitter at a local store and thought it might look cool flowing through the 1/2 inch tygon tubing under a black light. I'm not overly concerned with acheiving maximum cooling efficiency with this system as I have no intention of trying for crazy overclock speeds.

The glitter does not sound like a good idea. I'd be suprised if your pump lasted much longer after putting the glitter in.

Well why not try it? My only concern would be if it would clog your radiator. Also if you are using a nozzle jet cooler like the Little River G4/G5 or Aqua Computer XT I would avoid putting anything not water soluable in as the nozzles clog easily.

This has been brought up before and I think the consensus was it will probably clog up something unless you have very high flow.

If it doesn't clog up something and you have a reservoir .. it will probably all end up there anyway ;) ...

random thoughts:

wont do the pump seal/bearing much good where its a very fine substance. Clog the rad if its any apprecaible size. Kind of no win.

If you went with the transmission oil cooler type of radiator, the ones with a single large diameter tube that serpentines you could eliminate that concern.

Closed loop might work better so it does not all settle in the reservior.

Use a high flow system and an open type block like a maze 3 or 4

I would not put the pump at the very bottom of the loop where the stuff could settle in the impeller chamber. (that may be a bit of a challenge)

So go ahead, just have another pump handy they are not awfull expensive or buy one that replacement bearig/seals are easy to get.
