HI TO ALL :)

I'm plan on getting a 20" monitor soon, and I'm wondering between :1) View Sonic VX2025wm
2) Dell 2007WFP

I'll use the monitor for almost everything: web browsing, movies\TV HD , and different types of games.
The quality of the picture is very important to me, but the question is what will be better- the better and more alive colors of the S-ips panel in the Dell, or the better contrast at the p-mva VS.
more than that, will the dell do problems in video view?

In this
review, the VS wins the Dell at any test. is this review reliable?

another few questions:
1. does the VX2025wm presents better image and picture than the VP930? by the two's name panel, it seems that the VX has improved panel of the VP.
if it so, what is the difference between the VX and the VP2030? because it costs double than the VX.
2. does any of this monitors can be placed on the wall?
3. what is the dead pixel warranty on each other?

if u have other important things to add beside my questions please do.
THANK U ALL FOR READING THIS.

S-IPS >>> P-MVA

Additionally, I'd like to add that the VX2025WM is ugly. And its DVI port seems to die very often. Oh, and its stand sucks.

will the dell do problems in video view?

You don't ever need to go into video view. All its going to do is tweak your contrast and activate that god-forsaken scaler chip that causes banding.

I don't think the VX2025WM is ugly....it's actually very comparable to the Dell in looks as far as I'm concerned. However the differences between the two panels lean heavily in favor of the 2007FPW:
1. S-IPS panel (unless S-PVA has started showing up in North America)
2. Highly adjustable stand including portrait mode
3. Composite, S-video inputs
4. Internal 1:1 scaling
5. PiP or PbP

I wouldn't buy a 2007 strictly because of the S-IPS panel alone, truth be told I can reproduce the same image quality on the latest and greatest S-PVA panel as with any S-IPS panel, and I have! The inputs is what really make the 2007 a nobrainer choice in IMHO.

For everyday common use and gaming I'd take the VX2025WM over the 2007, if I didn't already have a quality flat panel TV I'd go with the 2007.

the only problem i have with the vs is the backlighting bleeding.. for the rest is awesome.

I didn´t see the dell but i´m sure is a great monitor as well.. but is a tad more expensive.

Show me a LCD using mainstream technology that doesn't bleed

They all bleed to one degree or another depending on how you look at them :D

I peeked at the new dell E207 yesterday a friend got, absolutely No Bleed through what-so-ever....as long as I viewed it with my eyes at least 8 inches above the top of the screen. Anyone who wants to directly view from front of it at eye level is going to observe gawd awful bleeding like apperance,

I use both and personally I like the VX better for gaming....but I think the Dell has a better overall picture

Hmmm i don´t understand .. all monitors have bleeding... but the e207 is an exception? or all have bleeding but e207 have less bleeding than most?

sorry but my english is limited.

Thanks for all the answers friends..

1. PVA supposed to be better that MVA, so if I'll get the s-pva, its will be better than the VS for sure?
3. i'v never understand why i need this ports.. ?
4. the Vs dosent have 1:1 option at all? that means that A-L-L web sites, games, etc that don't support wide res will stretch? :(
5. pip means picture in picture? what is PbP? and what does they being used for?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

maybe someone else know the answers to the other questions that i've asked?

AT THG 20" review, it mentioned that the VP930 has better picture than the VX2025. how can it be, that newer version of the same panel- P-MVA is less good?

1. yes.
3. These connections are great if you want to connect a dvd player, game console, any other a/v equiptment.
4. Correct, in addition if you were watching hdtv through the dvi port all the non 16:10 content would be stretched.
5. yes pip means picture in picture. it is used for displaying another input source, in addition to what is being displayed full screen, in a little square on your monitor. pbp means picture by picture. Displays with this feature can display to input sources split screen.

I own an S-PVA and I consider it among the worst of the modern panels. If you order a 2007WFP in North America, you'll get an S-IPS.

The Tom's Hardware review is awful. They recommend the VX2025WM over the NEC 20WMGX2? Crazy.

THANK U ALL FOR READING THIS.

You have to consider that the Viewsonic is considerably cheaper than the Dell.

Regarding the backlight bleed heres a picture of mine (disregard the red spot, thats a spot in my camera lense)

I don't think there is bad bleeding at all. I can't notice it at all when I'm watching movies. Just trying help!

The problem with these VA panels is, as you can see in the picture, the center of the display is darker than the edges. This creates a color shift problem. For everyday use, its not hard to live with, but for photo work or dark games, it becomes an annoying problem.

I have the VX2025 and I wish I hadn't spent my money on it. The X-band is there but it seems to only appear when the entire screen is black. Like it was mentioned before, my DVI port died. Doing any type of graphic work on this monitor is somewhat annoying thanks to D-sub.

Yeah, Tom's Hardware seems to be full of shit as far as recommending this monitor over the Dell. My dos centavos.

I've used Samsung, Acer, Viewsonic and BenQ lcd's and a Dell 17" at work and I can honestly say that my 2007FPW is the only one that has nearly no backlight bleed to speak of. At first I thought it was perfect but then I found if you stare at the screen long enough in a darkened room you can barely make out a slight bit of light coming from the top center. The old Viewsonic I had a couple years ago (forgot the model #) was the worst and had a very bright "X" pattern that was only tolerable with the brightness turned way down..

1. That is debateable....from what I understand the 2 technologies are pretty comparable but the P-MVA has better viewing angles and response time.
2. You really won't need the extra ports if you use it mostly as a computer monitor. For most people having a DVI for the comp and VGA for Xbox 360, PS2 etc.. is sufficient.
3. I assume you're talking about the Viewsonic VX2025WM? No it doesn't have the 1:1 but for the most part it won't be a problem. Most games can be hacked for widescreen and if you have an Nvidia card it can do scaling through the Forceware drivers.
4. PbP is "picture by picture" which means you can have 2 sources (from different inputs) side by side at near full screen. Nice if you need it...useless if you don't.

edit- Tom's Hardware has been spreading idiocy on the web longer than most any computer hardware site. They are one of the originals back from the mid 90's and think they can say anything and people will gobble it up. ;)

THANK U ALL FOR THE HELP SO FAR

**for all the ones that say that VS is cheaper, the Dell is cheaper from the VS in something like 70$ where I live.

So I see that most of u prefer the Dell. so I believe that he is the one I'll buy. but a few questions (the people that owns the DELL) :
1)It been said, that ips panel is very bad for videos (movies, TV episodes). does the s-ips dell's panel fix this problem? the videos are being showed good?
2)I have pretty weak video card - GE force 6600GT, so I believe that I wont use the max (native) res in games, and maybe not even at desktop. so the question is if the monitor works good in lower res? or the picture distorter.

general question:
I've asked a certain store what panel does the 2007WFP (that they r selling) uses, and they replied that they have the REV A02.
is every 2007WFP with A02 is s-ips??

u have a 2007WFP with s-pva panel? or other monitor with this panel?
when u say it's very bad, what do u mean exactly?

I don't own the Dell 2007wfp, I own the S-PVA Gateway FPD2185W. When I say its bad, I'm talking about the viewing angle. If my screen is filled with one solid color, it looks like a gradient because of the color shifting of the panel. This is especially annoying in dark games, where the spot you are looking at is about 20% darker then the edges of the screen (S-PVA darkens in the center).

Unless you buy a used 2007wfp, if you're in North America you'll get a Rev. A02 S-IPS panel.

S-IPS and TN panels tend to have more noise on the screen during DVD playback. S-PVA / P-MVA are better for DVD playback.

No LCD looks good at non-native res. You have no excuse to not be running native res on the desktop with your card, but if you have to run non-native in games, be prepared for a blurrier image. Its not too awful in games, but in desktop mode you'd notice the blurry text.

Does the Viewsonic have 1:1 pixel mapping like the 2007? If not, I'd say the 2007 is probably a better gaming monitor unless you have a vid-card that can drive games at 1680x1050.

Also (couldn't find data on this) does the Viewsonic have HDCP?

Thanks again :)

I know that no lcd looks the same in non-native res compare to native res, but there r monitors that show little difference, and there r monitors that when u put one res below the native, the picture is so blurry that u just want to cry. there for Im asking people that have the monitor, if a change in res destroys the picture or is it ok?

another few questions (I never run out of them  ):
1)what is "banding issue" ? is it a problem at the monitor which makes certain parts on the screen black, and other parts in the screen blacker? or is it something else? and can I return the monitor and get a new one because of this?
edit: also, what is the AG coating and how does it affect on the view? why it is bad?

2) what does the HDCP support use for? what can I do with it, that I cant in monitors that don't support HDCP?

3) Can someone please write me the full names of the panels reversions?
(a) the A02 panel
(b) the A03 S-IPS panel
(c) the A03 S-PVA panel
the store which I want to buy the monitor from, keep telling me only the REV, so I cant know which panel they r using, therefor i want to know the names of them.
edit: ok, I found the names of the A03 panels in the thread "DELL panel lottery", but I still need to know what is the A02 panel.
also, what is the difference between panel code (example: RT803 ) and panel name ( example: LM201W01 ) ?

4) what is DELL policy about the dead\stuck pixels? I've looked it over in their website but had no success.

I know that I've said it allot but again- THANK U VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP, U'R REALLY HELPING ME.

Read here about HDCP

If you plan to keep your monitor awhile (read: several years), especially if you plan to eventually use it with a system running Windows Vista, you'll want HDCP support, even if it isn't essential now. At least, if you want to play high-def videos, you will.

My 19" Samsung CRT has lasted me since 1999, the oldest component in use in my system (with the possible exception of the floppy drive). I don't buy a display without planning to keep it for awhile. For this reason, HDCP was a requirement when looking for a display

I looked at six models of Viewsonic on their website when doing research. Not once did VS list HDCP-compliance in their specs. They could be, but there was no way of telling for sure. I ordered the 2007wfp yesterday; it is compliant, plus it has a few more features.

there will be a difference these days between HDCP supporting monitor and not-supporting in showing HD-TV?

Any one knows the answers to the other questions that I've asked (end of page 1) ?

I have already said that I found the codes of the A03 in this thread. but I need the other codes.

anyway, this matter not as important to me as the other issues. can someone please help me in the other things Ive asked?
The bottom line is this: if you open the service menu and find "LPL" or "RT803" then you have S-IPS..
