vRanger vs. Veeam?

Presently using vRanger to backup my VMware environment, it's small, 6 hosts, 12 sockets (IBM blades), I backup over LAN (at the moment) to an older SAN that I use as my target storage. Pretty simple setup.

Any comments regarding functionality, cost, and ease of use on Veeam? vRanger has been acceptable, running version 5, but it certainly doesn't wow me or anything.

I've got a small project coming up to move to a new backup server, 6Gb SAS DAS for backup staging, moving to LAN free backups (I use FCP datastores, NetApp), and renewing our software support contracts for backup software, so figured I'd check out some of the other software out there.

I do not have any direct experience in using either pieces of software in a production environment, so I can not really help you much comparing those two.

My questions that might help others is:
What are you looking to be able to do with your backup solution?
Such as: file level backup/restore, VM only, replication, others.

What other requirements do you have?
Agentless (nothing installed on the VM's themselves)?
vSphere 4.x or 5.x support?
No need to install any VM or other things on the actual ESX(i) servers, and pure backup proxy?

Veeam on the LAN works well from my experience/most everything I read. Veeam on the WAN leaves some to be desired with current version v6. Veeam v6 is suposta have some large improvements to the WAN replication performance.
