This is what I would like to use my Oculus for.

Welding and self improvement. I know there are many meditation apps, but that’s not what I’m talking about.

Specifically I’d like to learn how to weld AND I’d like to use VR for it.

That pride though. Gah. $1000

One would think that you could amass a lot of material to practice on before ever hitting that $1000 price tag.
My vote is go real life like all the folks had done who you will be working under. Save the "GAMES" for the weekend yo!

Welding isn't as simple as going out into your backyard and sticking lumps of iron together. What if he doesn't have any welders?

Welding courses are more expensive than the price of the App. And the App is certainly cheaper than buying a couple of welders and materials to practise on.

VR isn't just for games.

That is exactly what I am saying. Correct, that the welding app is not cheap. But that isn't the point or the question I am trying to ask.

What other apps for the Quest exist for educational or self improvement? I know about the many meditation apps and the desktop simulator apps, but I am not asking about those. I am asking for apps in the similar category as that welding app.

I would say that a lot of training apps that are developed for VR aren't available for sale. Or might not be available for sale from any of the app stores.

Any insight you have is welcome. I'd like to use my Oculus for something more "useful."

Simulation software exists. But, as mentioned, not in an "app store". Games, sure.

And it ain't gonna be cheap. $1000 is chump change for a real simulated environment designed for actually training a person to perform a task.

Search for what you may be interested in learning.
