Well I just got myself a 9600xt 2 weeks ago and it was working fine. The thing is I did not have internet for those 2 weeks so I was using the drivers of the cd.
It came with cat 3.8
So last night I dl the 4.8 and now for no reason when I am just on the desktop browsing [H], playing mp3's, or typing. I get a VPU Recover error but I never get one while playing any 3d games.

So my questions are why am I getting this error and does anyone know of a way to fix it besides me uninstalling the 4.8 and reinstalling the 3.8, and turning fast write off.

Also I completely uninstalled my old drivers then used drive cleaner as per the guide.

numero uno rule in my book when it comes to vpu recover: turn it off
i get vpu recover errors with my 9800pro for some reason in games so ever since i turned it off my computer runs just as fine and i have no problems
