Volume stays minimized

I have this weird problem. When I double click the volume icon, the volume control stays minimized. I cant maximize it. Is this some kind of virus? How can I fix this?
 
First, you'd have to make sure it was enabled in the BIOS. You should know this already though, because you would have loaded drivers for the audio device already, if it was enabled. Of course, if it is enabled, and you didn't load the drivers yet, you should do so.
 
I have a Dell Inspiron 1505 notebook. I have not changed the audio device. Might I have bad drivers for my current audio device then? Something happened? I was playing with movie converters, and linux bootup cd's and along the way my volume stays stuck. It works though, if I left click and hold the volume icon in the taskbar, the volume scroll bar will pop up, but thats about it.
 
Sounds like something borked your audio drivers. You could try removing and then reloading them.
