my motherboard is a msi-p55-cd53 i started overclocking this thing as soon as i had windows installed. and it always showed 1.38 vcore set on auto. to get more speed i uped the voltage +.100 and the voltage went down. seemed very strange to me come to find out at stock speed while updating my bios the voltage was 1.15 the motherboard was uping the voltage for me when i overclocked. to get to the 1.4 that i wanted i have to go +.300
 
for me CPU-z never reports that correctly

When i had manually set mine to 1.4 it would show 1.32 in windows. So dont rely on that.
 
I'm not far off in CPUz , BIOS is at 1.43, Windows shows 1.42
ASRock OC Tuner (included) reads it same as bios, but I think its just reporting the bios settings, not real time

Did you adjust the vDrop setting? Bunch of different mobos have a setting that tries to stabilize the votage, that may help

Anyone got any numbers on safe voltages tho, or other voltages we can up besides those in the 3 step guide?

I'm trying to get 4.0 stable, had to back down to 3.9 with 1.43 on the CPU, I want to know how much more room I have to go before I can call it quits for safety reasons

(PS, 67*C tops at full load 3.9Ghz)

That's most likely because of Vdroop. Your actual Vcore is closer to what CPU-Z reports than to what you set in the BIOS.
 
I was reading the bios and cpu-z matched. idle cpu-z showed 1.4 under load it droped to 1.35 im gonna blam that on my power supply. I also think thats whats keeping from getting 4.1 overclock
 
Lower CPU voltages are not the fault of the power supply. The motherboard's voltage regulation circuitry should be able to compensate for any changes in voltage coming from the PSU.
