Volcano 7+?

Anyone have an opinion about this cooler? I use a vantec aeroflow/jet engine... it's incredibly loud, so the variable cooling looks nice on the volcano 7+...

If you think the volcano is lame, point me towards a better cooler...
 
I had one, it was amazingly loud imo. I thought the temp sensor sounded good, but it never seemed to run on the slow setting. You could always mod it though.
 
It's big! Just make sure you've got plenty of room for it and you have your MB mounted securely ( it's heavy ).

It's also very loud!!! On high, I can hear about 2 rooms away. I run on Low and it does the job ( low:load 50, low;idle 46) I don't run on high way too loud for me.
 
I can second the sound issue. I get good enough temps with the fan on the medium speed, but the high speed is so damned loud that I've never run it on high. As far as I know there are newer versions of the Volcano. I don't know much about them but from what I've seen they're fairly inexpensive and I would assume (since they're newer than the 7+) they'll be better.

none of the volcanos are that good, do you have amd or intel
 
if you have the cash get a thermalright sp97 or the old model is the slk947u and if neither of those will fit your motherboard (http://www.thermalright.com) you can get an slk900a, all 3 are very similar and they all take 92mm fans

theres zalman 7000s and thermaltake towers aswell and more im sure but i would go for thermalright as they are conductively the best heatsinks then you just put whatever fan you want on them to choose between performance and quiet... theres also the thermalright alx800 which is aluminium so its nice and cheap and still powerful, it only takes 80mm fans
 
its LOUD, dont expect to run it at maximum speed and still have good hearing, i ran it on the medium setting to cool my p4. i would suggest the zalman 7000 over the 7+ anyday
