Barton 2800+ that's been running hot

What do you guys think would be better? :)

I have a 11+ right now and am very unhappy with it, the only good thing I see coming out if it is that I can pop off the fan when I finally toss the sink. By unhappy I mean that it runs as hot as the stock heatsink that came with the proc in the first place.

I would consider looking at the SLK-900, still one of the best bangs for the buck around.

I've got a barton 2800+ running at 40C idle and 45C full load. dunno if that's anything like what you are getting but its good enough for me.
That's with a case temp of 24C and an ambient room temperature of about 70F.

tho i can hear my heatsink from the other side of the house.

i just cancelled my order from ewiz

I turned off the computer and found a SHITLOAD of dust in my heatsink

idling now at 41 at 42 with trillian running, winamp streaming audio and surfing webpages :)

Out of curiosity, what kind of distance are we speaking hear? Ambient noise drowns out my system once I leave the room it is in.

I used to have a barton 2500+ with the asus a7n8x and also used the SLK-900U with the vantec tornado. Wow, the BEST temps you'll ever see cooling with air. Only problem is that I could defainetly here that thing across the house. Hell, i could still hear it if i was halfway up the stairs. And by across the house, I mean about 120ft or so. Oh well, I like quiet computers these days... just my 2c.

Hes decided to keep the stock sink, if you look.

Just while we are on the topic of it, the volcano 11 uses a cheap bond to glue the base to the fins, and the 12 has resolved this issue. The 11 isnt worth the cash, imho - get a 12 with a ducting mod.

I idle at 28C, by idle I mean, I have AIM, IE and Winamp open.
Full load is 40C.

I have the Volcano 11+, at less than 50% throttle...

Works for me.
