VMWare vSphere Client vs Web Client passthrough problem

Hello guys, I recently run into the following problem with the vSphere Web Client while trying to passthrough my PCI-E ethernet card (Dell U3867 / Intel 82572EI). When ever I tried to power on the VM after adding the passthrough PCI-E device, it would always show this error even after I tried remove / re-add the passthrough device to the VM:

However, when I add the passthrough device to the VM using the vSphere Client (windows installation), everything goes fine without a single hiccup. Is it me or the vsphere web client just crap? If it is crap then how could VMware limit some functions to the web client only?

FX 8320E + 970A UD3P mobo + 32GB DDR3 + Dell U3867 NIC.

Are you using the vCSA or the full vCenter?

What hardware version is the VM?

I agree with you, it is very strange that the web client doesn't work but the thick client does - sounds like a configuration issue as vCenter is way more sensitive about configuration (found that out the hard way last night).

Have you tried removing and re-adding the host to vCenter?
