VMware Player + OpenSUSE = No Sound

I've got a machine here with VMware Player 7 that runs a couple of different guest VMs (hosting OS is Windows 7). All of the Windows-based guests run flawlessly, but I'm having trouble with OpenSUSE 11.3. The VM and guest are both set up for sound, but it doesn't actually play any sounds. When I trigger sound output in the guest, the device monitor on the VM (at the bottom of Player) shows sound activity, but nothing actually plays. As far as the guest is concerned, the sound played correctly. I don't experience this with the Windows guests, so it isn't a problem with Player per se, only a problem with whatever is handled differently between the Windows and Linux VMs.

Has anyone run into a similar situation?
