All my VM's on my ESXi servers are stored on a NAS via NFS. Yesterday I powered down all VM's and attempted to unmount the NFS data store on the ESXi server but it failed until I physically removed each VM from inventory. I took snapshots of each VM and did as requested. I then remapped my NFS share and re-added each VM back into inventory which worked fine. My problem occurred when the Linux servers (RHEL 5.5) powered back on, they all failed to connect to the network again because the MAC address for each virtual interface on RHEL was completely different. I had to revise / edit each MAC address for it to work. Why did this happen?
