Question for you higher level VMware guys on the forum. Are the VMUG conferences worthwhile for someone who's basically on the entry level side of virtualization. I'm still studying to take my VCP so was just curious if this would be worth taking the PTO day on since my boss said he wouldn't pay me to go. Just curious if there's any networking potential for future positions as well. :D

I went to the KC regional VMUG last year and found it to be worthwhile. I was between taking the install, manage, config course and getting my VCP at the time and while I don't believe I learned anything that helped me earn my VCP, it definitely helped to paint a clear picture as to what the market is doing and where it is heading. Plus, I got to learn about products I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise. It helped to fill in real-world gaps I didn't get exposure to while just studying technical guides.
 
VMUGs vary greatly by the area and involvement but they are well worth attending to see. They are free...no reason not to join in.
 
Anytime you interface with your peers I find to be highly beneficial. It's nice to know what others are working on/with and what challenges they're facing. I just went to my first VMUG last month which featured a vDS troubleshooting presentation from your resident NetJunkie. I definitely left with a few good takeaways.

Bingo.

No, I liked the run down of all of the different types of nic teams. While I've had a working overview of the options, I have never seen nor heard a better explanation of how the traffic actually flows. It was a nice gap to fill in. Also you had a quick blurb about not using switchport access interfaces, which I've been guilty of. But networking has always been my weak link. I still need to see your VMworld vDS deepdive.
