I have an X800 VIVO softmodded to an XTPE. Now if I'm not already nervous about the overclock and not being able to RMA it if it burns up, my temps. (to me) seem a little high:
with an 85% fan stock cooling, I got up to 76degrees in ATI Tool 3D view.
As I said to me that seems a little high.
Tell me if you think thats high, good, low(doubt it)
 
Thats pretty high

Turn it up 100%.

Better yet get an water cooling, or an Arctic silencer (Do they make one for x800pros?)

But ya thats pretty high, in the meantime try putting some fans up in there
 
I have a fan thats on the side of the case next to it and I was wandering if whether its intake or exhaust would change anything
 
I have the Ati Silencer 4 on my softmodded x800 pro. I run it at 100%. Temps are 33/35 idle and 61/55 load. The stock cooler is junk.

CUSA sells an Aerocool fanless heatpipe cooler for about $40
It says the application for the 9800 but Ive heard the 9800 and the X800 are virtually the same PCB. If that will work, anybody know how well?

If not, I need some suggestions as to good cooling with little price because on my budget, I can get nowhere near to being able to pay for water cooling yet :rolleyes:

edit-what about a Zalman ZM80D-HP heatpipe cooler with the fan, anybody have one and mind telling me how well they work?
 
If your really worried about it
A. Don't overclock your card
B. Purchase an ATI Silencer 4 $30.

I would go with option B. The Silencer installation was a breeze, and it significantly reduced my temps.
 
Yea, i dont think i could do without the overclock, I'm [H]ard like that ;)
I'm almost positive I will go with the silencer.
 
I don't see what the big deal is, thats normal temps on that card *under load that is*
 
Turn the fan up to 100% and slap some AS5 on the GPU, that will drop temps a good bit. An Ati Silencer would be a good idea, too.
