Was doing some reading and found a statement that with Vista, there is no longer any need to hit f6 and load drivers to set up raid and it's really really easy now.
So I thinks to myself, self, maybe it's time for you to buy another Raptor and get in on this raid thing. I also have a copy of Vista Ultimate 64 handy so I'm ready to go right?
So I grab my motherboards owners manual and I'm immediately confused.
I've read that hardware is the way to go versus software and my motherboard offers a Sil4723 chip and 2 dedicated SATA ports for that purpose. But the owners manual contains only information about setting up NVraid which I'm guessing is the software mode using any of the other SATA ports. No mention whatsoever about this Sil chip other than it's got it and no guidance to bios settings. So I google around and find a Vista plus Raid guide on Legit Reviews and they show that you still need a floppy to load drivers it just happens later.
I'm no chicken and I guess I could just load it all up and see what happens but I thought I'd check here first and see what you guys had to say. Maybe save me some frustration.
